My Third Day in Second Life

by Me on October 21, 2008

As is so human, one sticks to what is familiar. In searching for “camping” sites, I happened upon a VR replica of Galveston TX – created by the in world Galveston tourism agency or something. It has a variety of ways to “camp”. Several of the boutiques in the shopping district have go-go dancing spots, but I haven’t been successful at getting them to work. I am liking “my” spot here on the Galveston beach better and better. There are three spots that pay a rather low rate for camping, but they don’t require activity reports for an hour, versus every 10 minutes for “my” other spot in Ciudad Mexico. There is a hammock on the beach, that I “retire” to when I go offline.
And best of all, the rentals on beach huts are pretty rock bottom cheap. Yes there is next to no space, and a very low PRIM allowance.

Today I went exploring and discovered a ballroom dancing site I can’t wait to try out with Weave Oldrich. It also has camping, but it is rather popular, and difficult to get a spot. I also explored Mikeys Garden spot and observed how “the best” vegetation was set up and rendered for SL. Which is a hexagonal or octagonal array of painted flat planes – to lower the PRIM count of the object.

I’m still working with my freebie wardrobe, and getting the “outfits” set up for multiple part items like boots, to enable putting them on and off easily. I am quite pleased with the Gaia jewelry. I would go back and shop there, but I can’t say I’ve found any clothing designer that I want to spend any serious Linden dollars on. I’ve got two ballgowns, two pairs of jeans, two pairs of leather pants, some kickin’ beach gear and undies, and my faves – brown cashmere turtleneck and matching suede boots.
